I got some good advice once

take my advice

Algebra 1, my freshman year of high school (I think they now teach the same course to 4th graders): on exam day our paunchy teacher with the unruly hair, whose name escapes me now would say, “Don’t let your eyes wander.  Some one may step on them.”  And I could visualize that happening and it didn’t seem like something I would like to experience and so I never did even barely glance about.

Certain sayings smack of truth and are just good to remember.  I’ve gathered a few for you:

  • Keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.
  • Coffee…chocolate…men…some things are just better rich.
  • Don’t treat me any different than you would the queen.  Please.
  • Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead.  Do not walk ahead of me, I may not follow.  Don’t walk beside me, either.  Just leave me the heck alone! (Claire Martin)

And finally:

  • “From the cradle to the grave, underwear comes first!” (Michael Fry)

Did I miss any important ones?  Be blessed! Jeanie

NOTE TO SELF: Get wisdom!  It is the principle thing.

  1. Truisms are…true. Here are a few of my favorites: Never put all your ranking officers in one shuttle craft.  Sheer the sheep, milk the goats, shoot the wolves! Advice is a lot like a laxitive, easy to take but hard to predict the outcome! God's children should act like their Father. If you must err, err on the side of mercy. As much as it is possible with you, live at peace with all men. The same sun that melts wax, hardens clay: it depends on the make up of the substance. It's one thing to be stupid, it's another thing to not know it! Jealousy digs the mud that envy throws at success. People who talk to you about others, will always talk to others about you. Indiference is the worst thing in the world. Don't be like concrete, all mixed up and permantaly set. Wisdom is knowing how ignorant you are. Everyone is born original but many die copies. Success is only successfull when you have a successor. And of course, one of my favorites: The reasonable man adapts himself to the world, the unreasonable man persists in adapting the world to himself; therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man-balanced men never changed history…George Bernard Shaw You are always right on honey, Dave again…

  2. Anger is a condition in which the tongue works faster than the mind. A hug is a great gift…one size fits all.  It can be given for any occasion and it's easy to exchange.
