God is closer than we think

"Rain" with Rob Bell.  Check it out here (11 minute video)

"Description: Things don't always work out the way we want them to or the way we think they will.  Sometimes we don't even see it coming.  We get hit with some form of pain out of nowhere leaving us feeling desperate and helpless.  That's the way life is.  Still,  it makes us wonder how God can let these things happen to us.  How can God just stand by and watch us suffer?  Where is God when it really hurts?  Maybe God is actually closer to us than we think.  Maybe it's when we're in these situations, where everything seems to be falling apart, that God gets an opportunity to remind us of how much He really loves us."

It's worth watching to the end.  Try to imagine the view from the safest place of protection now, from the hiding place, so very close to His heart.

Be blessed in all things.  Jeanie

NOTE TO SELF: "For all that has been, Thanks!  To all that shall be, Yes!" (Dag Hammarskjold)

    • Good talk.  1 Peter 4:19 says, "So the, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good."  We may not always understand the current path, but we can always rest in knowing God is a faithful creator- he will sustain us.

    • Good video…good words.  1 Peter 4:19 reminds us, "So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good."  Sometimes the reason for suffering comes right out of God's heart for us, but just like in days of old, He will always be there with us.  God's love for us, more tenacious than a pitbull, causes him to remain with us through even seasons of discipline…like when Israel had complained enough to get sentenced to 40 years of aimless wandering…God sentenced them, but he remained with them, in the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night, day in and day out…He is awesome!

    • What keeps amazing me is all the times I have struggled to break free of dangerous times because I couldn't see ahead, couldn't get a grip on what was what, couldn't "breathe."  This video makes me wonder how much of that was fighting against my Protector, thinking it was the enemy holding me down.  These past 6 or 7 months, though, I have been held in a death-to-flesh-grip, and He IS awesome!
