Read your Bible

I don't know if "scare" is the right word.  Maybe it should be crucify, or diminish, or demolish?

Maybe it should say, "Read your Bible - it is the absolute authority over our lives and it will illuminate the very nature of God and His will and will transform you"?

But I sort of like this rather abrupt, attention-getting sign - especially for lazy Christians who are paying their pastors to do all the Bible reading and teaching and for the professional pastors who have so much on their plates they aren't reading it, either.

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."  Matthew 4.4 NKJV

You are what you read…Be blessed! Jeanie

NOTE TO SELF:  "The B-I-B-L-E, yes - that's the book for me!  I stand upon the Word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!"   One of the first songs I ever learned, one of the first words I ever knew how to spell.  What treasure.  Thanks, mom!

    • I agree honey, I was just thinking how I needed a little Bible to carry around with me, and then I thought of the little New Testament and Psalms but I draw so much insight out of the Old Testament and then I thought if it was one that I would be carrying around, it has to be small, but then the words are small also and no one likes my glasses because they are not contemporary or cool because they are just WalMart off the shelf reading glasses and so I want to get a little Bible but the real reason that I thought about putting this on was how expensive Bibles are. Isn't it interesting that people in other countries are dying for the Word of God, literally and it costs American, white bread, SUV driving, upper middle class, soccer mom, Christians $50 to buy a Bible! And don't even get me going on Christian book stores and what they charge for fish stickers to plop on the back of your car! Alas, I'll just have to read my 20lb NIV study Bible for now. The little one will be later… dave

    • And even if we don't have a print version at home we can get it online… but we don't!  I agree wholeheartedly.  One of the discussions we had in our small group a couple of years ago focused specifically on "life application" churches vs. bible teaching churches, a particular peeve of mine.  I didn't want to show up at church on Sunday, have a feel-good service, and go home.  I want to hear some perspective, some teaching, on the Bible.  Not that it isn't also my job to read, delve, and learn.  But I want church to be church, from God.
