The YWAM killings in Arvada, followed by the New life Church killings in Colorado Springs "12 hours and 65 miles" later on Sunday are being sensationalized with headlines like these: GUNMAN THROWN OUT OF MISSIONARY SCHOOL.
It's so inflammatory. Even if it is true, (and isn't it awfully early to make that type of conjecture), it hints at saying, "Well, no wonder. They (YWAM) caused it." Could it have been wisdom to have asked him to leave (if this is what happened)? Could it have saved others from being hurt by him had he gone on a mission? Maybe some one saw something?
Meanwhile I mourn with and pray for the families of all the dead, including the gunman. It is a tragedy.

Sis- I fear we (the church) are in for more of these kinds of things a time progresses. For too long we coddled our senses that God would never allow us to suffer, and all the while, that is not what His word teaches. Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble…" I believe these things will come, and more often than we want, but our duty is to be faithful to the end. As for the media and their choice to stir mud where there may not even be any, well, we all know (if we are honest about it) that a lot of that boils down to the $$$. I wonder if the "reporter" will have to give an account of every malicious things they've reported, just as every man will give an account for every idle word that comes from their mouths? I wonder if any (or many) of them will belong to that "I never knew you" crowd?
I agree wholeheartedly, although I was very impressed with a man from New Life that was on The Today Show this morning. He said repeatedly that he was a follower of Christ, that it was prayer and God's hand that got them through it. I'm sure the media will continue to twist things to suit their own purposes (namely whatever will sell the most), but at least the faithful are still faithful… no showmanship for that guy. We are praying for the families of the dead, too. What a sad, sad thing.
I saw on one of the channels that they started to look into the security guard's past. Of course they found some unpleasant stuff. Who doesn't have that in the past. I think they were trying to find something to discredit her faith because she was so strongly declared it. She is no longer the woman from her past. She is a hero. I am impressed with New Life church. When they had their pastor problems the news broadcast one of their services,I think to show the damage done, but all I saw was a worship service with people praising God. There was a short speach about the church's problems and a long message about Christ. I saw hope in the peoples faces not the fear or brokenness I think the news was looking for.
